Odessa Beach
Odessa is located near the Black Sea, and in the summer this
city is an attractive holiday destination. Many beaches and a various
nightlife makes this city an exotic and exiting place. The climate in
Odessa is warm and sunny from May to September.
Odessa beach consists of several beach areas in which we cover in detail below.
Lanzheron Beach
Lanzheron beach is a
popular Odessa beach among both locals and
tourists. It
is located near the Shevchenko park, and
a stroll
through this park will take you
down to the beach. If you get bored,
you
can visit a large newly built Dolphinarium which has shows
frequently. The well
known Khutorok restaurant is perched on the bank
nearby offering panoramic sea views from the terrace.
Since this beach is located near the city center and fairly close to the main harbor, the water quality may not be the best compared to other beaches in Odessa. Many people choose to swim here so it couldn't be that bad
Otrada Beach
Usually in Odessa you
have to walk down some steps to get to
the
beaches. In
Otrada beach however, cable cars were constructed during the
Soviet time. The cable cars run from the main entrance
(city streets)
and all the way down to the beach. This is a quite fun ride actually
even if you’re not sure about the safety measures.
The
price is 10 Grivna one
way and it will save you some time.
Otrada
beach consists of numerous
beaches - almost all of which are equipped with
bars, changing rooms, showers and various other facilities. Take a walk
along the water and see which beach appeals the most to you. At some
places you can rent a jet ski or try out wind surfing.
Dolphin Beach
Dolphin Beach
and Dolphin VIP are both located just further
south of the Lanzheron and Otrada Beaches.
The sand and water quality on this beach is one of the better ones in
Odessa.
Great service and clean beaches make this a recommended summer visit on
a hot summer day while in Odessa.
Arcadia Beach
Arcadia Beach Odessa is the most
famous beach. It is a
15 minute
ride by taxi to get there from the city centre. From the main entrance
there is a 200 meter walk straight ahead down to the beach. Arcadia
is
not only a beach but also an amusement area. In the summer this place
is also
hosting the hottest open air nightclubs in
the city, like Ibiza
and Itaka. This place
has a lot to offer such as
cafés,
restaurants, horse riding and go-cart. The beach itself is maybe not
the best in Odessa but it is crowded and popular – a place to
see
and to be seen. Activities on the beach range from massage to
jet
skiing. You can rent lying chairs and umbrellas for just a couple of
dollars.
Riviera Beach
Further south from Arcadia you will find Riviera Beach which is the best beach in Odessa. The fee is 5 $ and the feel of this beach is more “posh” and “up market” than the other beaches, and the water is reputedly a lot cleaner here than at the other beaches. There is a nice restaurant on the beach which is very popular and you can sit at a table wearing just a bathing shorts or a bikini.
