Train
The railway station is right in the center of the city which is highly convenient both for those departing from Odessa and those arriving for the first time.
Beware of pick pockets and people who want to offer you an
apartment. You are not guaranteeded that they are not hustlers.
Most travellers who come to Odessa for the first time usually come by air. I would think that travel by train is something you would do if you want to explore the country side of Ukraine or visit another city in Ukraine. Travel by train in Ukraine is very cheap but be prepared for a journey of 24 hours of even more to get to another city.
We can divide the trains into two categories:
Express Trains
These are the best trains and they are usually going overnight between
the big cities. They don't have many stops and they have carriages of
good quality and service. Express trains usually have 1st, 2nd
and
3rd class carriages.Express train numbers vary from 001 to 149.
Passenger Trains
These are quite slow trains and they have many stopovers. Traveling might take up to 30 hours for long-distance routs. The quality of the train depends on the route and may vary from good to barely acceptable. Passenger train numbers vary from 171 to 699.
